Riverton Hospital Health Fair

We have been seeing a ton of marketing about the Riverton Hospital Community Health fair. So we decided it would be fun to go over with the kids and see what is going on. We figured we would go for maybe a half an hour and head home, well two and a half hours laters we finally left. There was so much free stuff there for the kids to do. They had bounce houses for the kids and then each area of the hospital had either an activity or a booth with tons of free stuff. The emergency department had a teddy bear clinic where the kids got a free bear and then learned about how the treat broken bones and stitches, the primary childrens surgical center let the kids learn about anesthesia and actual got to intibate a doll (put a breathing tube in them) and then they got to use the surgical equipment to surgically remove candy from a dummy, they had info on germs and carseat safety and then outside they had all the emergency response vehicles that the kids could tour. And best of all Abby has a picture that she painted that is hung in the hospital and she found where they had hung it. They had so much fun and it was a great day to hang out together as a family.

Nana's Birthday

My Mom's birthday was last weekend and we had decided we needed to celebrate it to remember her. The younger kids have very little memories of their Nana and the older kids will start to forget if we don't help them remember. Jori and I along with sister Shanae took most of the grandkids to the graveyard for the afternoon (Sophia couldn't be there since they live in Colorado.) The headstone was starting to look dirty and unkept so we scrubbed the stone, polished it, and edged the grass around it and then we decorated the grave. The kids had fun using the scrub brushes and then running around the grass at the graveyard. We added the American Flags for our Brother James who couldn't be there since he is serving our country in Afghanastan. Anyway we had a really nice afternoon and finished it with a lunch at Mcdonalds for the kids - a place Nana had gone to many times just to be with us and the grandkids - one time she even climbed to the top of the play place to save a stranded grandchild. I was a nice way to remember my Mom and keep her as part of our lives. I miss you a lot Mom!
